Ithaca Town was established in 1903, separating from the Enoggera Shire. Named after the Greek island of Ithaca, this inner-western suburb's history is one of dense residential development, particularly for working-class and middle-class families. Its hilly terrain presented challenges and opportunities for urban planning. Ithaca's close proximity to the Brisbane CBD made it a popular choice for housing, leading to its rapid growth and eventual integration into the larger city.
