Wynnum, originally part of Tingalpa Shire, separated to become a town in its own right in 1913. Located on the shores of Moreton Bay, Wynnum's history is largely defined by its role as a popular seaside resort and a fishing village. Its accessibility by rail further boosted its popularity, drawing residents and visitors seeking coastal recreation. Wynnum retained its independent town status until the 1925 amalgamation.
